![]() ![]() It doesn't help that the Tooth Fairy, supposedly an old woman, is obviously a young man wearing a rubber mask. Dwayne Johnson is The Tooth Fairy, also known as Derek Thompson, a hard-charging minor league hockey player whose nickname comes from his habit of. But then you've got the sex scene and the woodchipper! It's like they tried to mix two genres, which resulted in something too gory for children, yet unsatisfying for adults, because the adults in this film aren't nearly as smart as the kids. The scenes with the ghost children and Pamela trying to unravel the mystery would fit well in a PG-rated film aimed at kids. Pamela's mother even likens Pamela's story of the tooth fairy to Harry Potter. Think SPIDERWYCK CHRONICLES or Harry Potter. When the film focuses on the little girl, Pamela, and her little ghost girl friend and their quest to banish the evil tooth fairy, the script takes on a fairy tale quality. ![]() You're traveling to an unfamiliar town and the inbred yokels at the gas station try to rape you? There's a woodchipper in the shed? Two people have died mysterious, bloody deaths in the house where you're staying, just a few minutes ago, but you're thinking of having sex? Well, you must be in a horror movie and you ought to realize that sex is a bad idea and you should leave the house, now! Sadly, this could have been an excellent movie if they had concentrated on the outstanding child actors and cut the gory adult scenes. ![]() Corey and his daughter, Sally, decide to go on a summer break with friends, Diane, Christy, Toby and Benny. Belief in the tooth fairy has become so common in the United States that losing belief in her is considered a rite of passage showing that a child is growing up. With Andrew Rolfe, Annie Knox, Lucinda Nicole, Jo Barker. She is famous for exchanging a few dollars for baby teeth that have fallen out. THE TOOTH FAIRY is a guilty pleasure, definitely worth watching but still only average as it has every bad horror-movie cliche in the book. The tooth fairy is rivalled only by Santa Claus in popularity among American children. Worth watching - but chock full of horror movie cliches ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() The Pipe rolls are the records of the audits of the sheriffs' accounts, usually conducted at Michaelmas by the Exchequer, or English treasury. They were occasionally referred to as the roll of the treasury, or the great roll of accounts, and the great roll of the pipe. There is no evidence to support the theory that they were named pipes for the fact that they "piped" the money into the Treasury, nor for the claim that they got their name from resembling a wine cask, or pipe of wine. The Pipe rolls are named after the "pipe" shape formed by the rolled-up parchments on which the records were originally written. The Pipe Roll Society, formed in 1883, has published the Pipe rolls for the period up to 1224. Although they recorded much of the royal income, they did not record all types of income, nor did they record all expenditures, so they are not strictly speaking a budget. They record not only payments made to the government, but debts owed to the crown and disbursements made by royal officials. They were the records of the yearly audits performed by the Exchequer of the accounts and payments presented to the Treasury by the sheriffs and other royal officials and owed their name to the shape they took, as the various sheets were affixed to each other and then rolled into a tight roll, resembling a pipe, for storage. A similar set of records was developed for Normandy, which was ruled by the English kings from 1066 to 1205, but the Norman Pipe rolls have not survived in a continuous series like the English. The early medieval ones are especially useful for historical study, as they are some of the earliest financial records available from the Middle Ages. They form the oldest continuous series of records concerning English governance kept by the English, British and United Kingdom governments, covering a span of about 700 years. The earliest date from the 12th century, and the series extends, mostly complete, from then until 1833. ![]() The Pipe rolls, sometimes called the Great rolls or the Great Rolls of the Pipe, are a collection of financial records maintained by the English Exchequer, or Treasury, and its successors. ![]() ![]() Fury’s tale has a different feel to it and I appreciate that each game is unique in its own way. Having to math out which item was better in Darksiders II was often a chore, even if it did bolster the idea of multiple builds in higher difficulty settings. Get the drift?Īll of it is an effort by Gunfire Games to modernize the series and most of their work pays off. And…can get her souls back after death by returning to the scene of the crime. And shatters souls for currency (used to upgrade stats or weapons). So…Fury drinks replenishable flasks now to restore her health. Loot is gone, because, according to the developers, “Fury’s abilities are stored inside her hilt.” Okay, that’s a cute hand-wavy lore reason for the removal of complicated concepts, but the tradeoff is one giant world and lots of holdover mechanics from existing games. So there’s a few major changes that all seek to sort of bring the game back down to Earth after the (some would say needless) push for complexity in the second entry. ![]() ![]() No, I’ll clarify that statement lest I feel the flame of hell itself: it absolutely holds up if you’re willing to put up with some of the same vices that have plagued 3D action games since their inception. After six years in limbo it’s returning to answer the call of fans: but the real question is whether or not it will hold up under scrutiny in 2018.ĭarksiders III (PC, PS4, Xbox One) Sure there’s padding issues and other nitpicks, but the strong locales and the more than serviceable action help cement this series as an actual action contender. Maybe it was Mark Hamill’s devilish turn as The Watcher that really drew me into this world, but it was artist Joe Madureira’s hellish beauty that kept me coming back. The whole “edgy Zelda” mask it wears so fondly was a major turnoff for some, but I bought right into it. Darksiders has always felt like it belonged on the fringe. ![]() |
